Mixed Up Burgers - Grand Prairie Airport (KGPM), 3116 S. Great SW Pkwy, Grand Prairie, TX
Tel: 972.595.5420    Breakfast - Lunch - Dinner

It doesn't take long for people to start talkin about a great burger and right at the terminal.

This is a serious O-M-G experience!  This place had me at the $1 beer (just  one brand)!  I had a burger with mushroom and bacon mixed in and it was simply the bomb with my Worcestershire sauce and cayenne pepper add-ons mixed in.  The sweet potato fries were a tad overcooked but anything but a deal breaker.

Mixed Up is a great concept with a very friendly wait staff.  The prices are so affordable that I used a GroupOn and walked away only having paid about $6 for me and a friend!  I certainly don't need a special deal to return. :-) By the way, the great big TVs don't hurt the deal, either.  This is a great date night place or a great hang-out with the buddies.

Redbarn Cafe - Sulphur Springs, TX (SLR)
A really nice airport and a short walk to the Redbarn Cafe, which is just across the street from the airport. Friendly folks and a great burger! The airport has a beautiful approach over a lake and a really nice FBO.

SkyLine Cafe - Tyler, TX (KTYR)
Becky Kalmowitz has a new restaurant at the Tyler Pounds Regional Airport! She will serve lunch and breakfast, from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays. American-style sandwiches and salads and will offer something for everyone, including a junk food junkie menu, as well as options for the health conscious. Her menu will have everyone covered from the women watching their weight with low-fat salads to the men who want a big juicy burger and fries. She promises to have the best of both worlds. She also plans to bring back the renowned pounder burger, which she will call the belly buster a 1-pound hamburger with an option of 1 pound of fries to go along with it. She said she is trying to bring back the nostalgia of the 1-pound burger, which has been requested by several people. But her belly buster will come with a twist a homemade 10 to 12 inch bun. Here's their menu!   The  Historic Aviation Memorial Museum is next door to the restaurant.

Echo Canyon Resort - Sulphur, OK (F30)
The brochure accurately describes this wonderful place as A beautiful resort specializing in romantic luxury lodging and fine dining. It is located on 30 acres in the Arbuckle Mountains, and is owned and beautifully managed by Joe and Carol Vanhorn, two of the finest folks you will ever meet. I have spent a weekend in this wonderful property, and I highly recomment Echo Canyon Resort. I have also flown to the resort to enjoy Carol's wonderful breakfast. If you call ahead, Carol or Joe will have you picked up at the airport by one of their friendly staff. Give them a call.

Vintage Flying Museum - Ft Worth, TX (FTW)
A very nice museum located at the south end of Ft Worth Meacham International Airport. They house about a dozen aircraft housed in a World War Two B-29 Hangar. The centerpiece of the collection is a Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress. They are open on weekends. If you want to come during the week call ahead. They host a warbird fly in every June. And they have a wonderful 1940's big band hangar dance every October. It is really neat to see a full big band set up under the nose of the B-17
